For antique toy collectors I can only only think of a handful of collectors books that clearly are leagues above all the other books, Pinsky's Guides to Marx toys, Al Aune's book on Arcade toys, etc. This is another in the same genre. This outstanding 220 ppg book contains the history of the Lehmann line of toys through its inception to LGB. The book then goes on to cover almost all of their toys in chronological order, heavily illustrated with color photos, advertisements, patent drawings, etc. Background history on the toy, original number and why the toy was created is provided for many of the more desireable offerings from Lehmann. On pg 169 is a summary of patents, followed by trademarks (pg 174) and then a section titled from idea to finished toy. For many of the toys that did not have a color photograph included there is a b&w section called "Lehmann toys: Surveys and guide identification" from ppg from 191-211. Each toy in this section has its number, rough production date, size, etc. Simply a remarkable book. I would recommend it to anyone collecting antique toys. My only regret is that there is no price guide but that is a small criticism compared to the wealth of information provided.
