Crochet Hat Pattern Correction for pattern summary in the back of the booklet: R3; ch2 (1dc in the 1st, 1dc in the 2nd st, 2dc in the 3rd st)6x, sl st to the 1st of R3 (count 24).This correction also applies to #16 if you are following the step by step instructions.I love to crochet and want my niece to have a great first experience learning to crochet. I bought this kit for her, but took a look at the instructions beforehand to make sure it would be helpful and not discouraging. I tried the pattern myself with my correction and have attached a pic of the outcome. I used a 4.5 crochet hook just to test the pattern. The hook that comes with the kit is not marked so I don't know what size it is. This would be helpful if you want to buy the same hook and try and follow along with your child. I used my own yarn in the pic this is why the colors with the kit might not be exact. There is no explanation on how or when to change yarn colors. I would not recommend this kit for anyone. Even if you recognize the errors in the pattern you should not have to go through the trouble. When you purchase something it should be exactly what you want. If you have already bought it and want to make use of it, I hope the correction helps. I recommend starting with a scarf or a blanket. Something flat is great as you get lots of practice with repetition. Just to give you an idea of my crochet skill level...I currently have an Etsy shop where I sell crochet items, I have also taught crocheting before, I have my items in a physical shop as well, have attend several craft shows through the years. I am self taught so I understand what it's like and how important it is to have the right tools. Good luck to you and don't give up learning. Crocheting is a great skill to have. AngieGranddaughter loves making things and this was perfect for herPurchased it for my great grand child who is into crafts. She loved it.Great gift for beginners!Really neat little set.For grandaughterGrandkids loved itThis is a very basic kit with small rolls of 4 different yarn colors, a plastic crochet hook, and some embroidery floss to add details to finished products which are included in the directions. They claim you can do 3 complete projects with the contents, but we (daughter and I) only got through 2 of the projects before running out of yarn (new crocheters usually tend to have too tight or too loose of tension as they learn and my daughter's was so loose we ran out of yarn, ha). I myself am a very experienced crocheter and THANK GOODNESS because we wouldn't have been able to understand the directions otherwise. They were really poorly written for someone with no knowledge of crochet stitches, in my opinion. We were able to finish the sleep mask and the iphone case. Ultimately because the directions were so poor she didn't learn the stitches she would need to start in on a beginner's blanket (that was her goal). I just ended up teaching her the old fashioned way.If you are looking for a kit in order to learn crochet stitches and how to read patterns, skip this. Go to your local craft store (or use Amazon) and purchase some basic Red Heart yarn (affordable and good for learning with), an aluminum crochet hook sized G or H or I, and an instructional book that has good diagrams of each stitch. Then buy a pattern of a beginner's blanket. And with patience and YouTube you can easily teach yourself. That is how I learned (before YouTube haha) and it CAN be done if you are determined.Tres sympa ce petit kit pour crocheter. Il va faire plaisir à une débutante. Le prix est peu élevé donc il ne faut pas s attendre une qualité grand luxe mais c est très bien pour commencer
