I have this amazing next door neighbor who has an incredible and amazing 7 year old son, who is funny, smart, incredibly curious and knows that when he grows up, he is going to be a mechanical engineer and make "better cars." So, it made perfect sense to me, when she asked if I could babysit from time to time, to buy a toy that we could play with that would help to support his dreams of becoming a mechanical engineer. (Watch out Tesla! Your time is limited!). Today, we opened the RacerZ Car Design box, (okay, so I went a bit overboard and bought several different boxes of Zoobs). Face it, when you are "babysitting" a 7 year old, you aren't babysitting so much as reverting back to childhood. Pixar Shorts in the background, (Thanks Amazon Video), we commenced to building. In less than 30 seconds, he had his first car. In that same time, I had attached a wheel to another piece! The design is brilliant! Seriously, the brightly colored bricks we all grew up snapping together, or, in the case of parents, stepping on, are great for little architects but Zoobs brings the whole engineering thing to a completely different level. No, you don't want to step on them, but they won't break and they don't hurt as much. Yes, you can buy all the different sets, they all work together. Yes, Zoobs will hold your child's attention for hours. These are fun for hours on end for almost any age- 6-106. Every child should have at least one, if not every Zoobs set out there! (Parents: Beware: Zoobs are very addictive- an entire afternoon can pass and you'll realize you haven't looked at your cell phone not even once!)Disappointed that the box was pretty crushed in shipping. Hopefully contents are undamaged. Looks like a fun toy.My 8yr old son loves cars... and says he wants to design cars when he grows up. So we thought this kit would be perfect for him.So I'm giving this 4 stars because it is a good quality product that allows a lot of flexibility to create several different kinds of vehicles. The pieces can be combined in numerous ways and you don't have to just make vehicles...you can just connect the pieces to make other structures or combine them with some of the the other ZOOB products. The connecting pieces mostly connect in perpendicular ways.. .so the combinations with this set is somewhat limited. It is a great product but wasn't the best fit for our little designer. The downside is that the parts connect in a sort of ball and socket joint kind of way. Although they snap together and have detents to help hold the parts in place they still flex... so the things you build aren't "perfectly solid" but rather somewhat flexible. If your child has issues with things not fitting perfectly, you might need to go a different route. But if they are cool with just creating things for fun and aren't upset by the fact that the connecting pieces aren't exactly straight/stiff, then this would be perfect for them.My kids love these things! I have a 7 and 11 year old who received this set as a gift a couple of years ago. They still play with them (they were about 5 and 9 when they received them). It’s such a great toy, and conducive to creativity, that I recently purchased this set for my nephew’s birthday. The only drawback is that they break relatively easily. We’ve purchased replacement links.Grandson asked for these as a Christmas gift. He has played and made some great things with them.Great gift and lots of time spent creating numerous different vehicle designs. My 2 kids - ages 5 and 3.5 just do wonders with this toy!The parts are easier for them to assemble together than lego bricks, so they can play on their own, unassisted and not frustrated. With The Lego they built houses and walls, But with Zoob they are using their IMAGINATION to build just about anything! We bought this set, and assembled the cars from the instruction together, but on their own they built a robot, a desk lamp, a man, a dog.....Sometimes they just build stuff that can't be defined as anything.... but they have fun doing it and take pride in their creations.I am extremely happy with this Toy. I can clearly see how they translate their their thoughts into the things they create, and enjoy the process as well as the result. It is challenging without being frustrating, and that's a very important thing in a toy.it is also so much fun for them to drive around their little creation, and being able to actually play with it without little bits falling off.I think it makes a great birthday present for kids 3-10. When you throw a birthday party for your child you get so many toy cars and lego sets you don't know what to do with it! So this will be a refreshing change. My son loves the Zoob building pieces. They aren’t rectangular building blocks like other sets but are sticks and balls lock together and make joints so the pieces are actually moveable which really makes this a building toy that they can actually play with. They work really well too. I’ve seen other toys in the past that tried to do similar things but they wouldn’t hold together well or wouldn’t move well. The Zoob sets works great. The RacerZ Car Designer Kit has instructions for 13 different builds. It contains 88 pieces. The difference between this set and just regular Zoob building pieces is this one also contains the tires so you can make all sorts of moving vehicles. My boys (age 5 & 7) absolutely love this product, it is fun and creative and so versatile in terms of making. They make things like robots, vehicles and animals and keep improving and evolving their designs over and over. It’s great in principal BUT there is one MASSIVE flaw to this product. It breaks! After a few uses, the pieces weaken in one particular spot and after a few more goes it breaks off.Since last Christmas (10 months) we have lost about two thirds of the pieces in this way. I wrote to the manufacturer and they said they hadn’t heard of the problem before but I do not think it can be isolated to just my children. Admittedly they are avid users of this product but surely they should not snap so easily. If they developed a less brittle plastic to use, this would be a genius product.I bought this for a six year old boy and it was a big hit! What more can I say. It seems sturdy and well made although I won’t be able to comment on the longevity of the product.these zoobs are brilliant . both grandkids age 7 and 10 love them . One sat 2 hours and made a marvellouus wagon with moving parts . I have bought a few different sets and would say they are nearly as good as leggo for keeping the children occupied .My son uses this far more creatively than Lego which is just what we hoped for. It is one of his favourite toys. We have had a few of them snap though since he got them at Christmas which is why just 4 stars. My 4 year old was delighted with this. It contains enough wheels to make good vehicles and a good range of parts. It’s great for getting him to use his imagination while exercising his fingers.
