The main concern with this toy is the massive amount of articial coloring used to die the wood pieces. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE FOR ANY BIRD. In the past I have put my other bird toys in a pot of boiling water to remove excessive ariticial colors, but when trying to do the same with this toy, the purple leached out some sort of thick, paint-like film that stuck to other parts of the toy when removed from the boiling water. Whatever this is, it can't be safe for your bird!Also. while advertised as being 12 inches long, the toy measures a total of 9.5 inches when hanging including bell and clip, and the wooden part only measures 6.5 inches.The bell is also very cheap and lightweight, and doesn't ring well compared to the one I was replacing.There's no way I'm putting this garbage in my bird cage. It's time to start making my own toys, I guess.
