I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my 5 year old, wanting to give her something new to play with in the bathtub. While she loved the idea of a flute (period, not just in the bathtub), she wasn't so crazy about the idea of having to fill each flute with the precise amount of water required to play the notes on the music sheets. Even when I did the filling for her, she got too frustrated trying to play the very easy songs on the sheets. I think in a year or so it might be more interesting for her, but for now it's just a fun and noisy bath toy. While the bottom of the flutes does unscrew to let water in/out, it does not remove completely. While this is in one way a good thing - the bottom will never get lost, I also see it as a bad thing because you can never really clean inside of the flutes and given that it's a bathtub toy I anticipate that mold will start to grow at some point. A minor detail, but one to consider if you're a stickler for keeping the bath toys super clean.I loved that they laminated the music sheets, and all you have to do is get them wet and stick them to the wall in the tub - a very clever idea on their part.Overall a very fun and cute gift for both boys and girls of all ages - the full range of fun will be most enjoyed by older kids.My 3 year old absolutely loves this toy. She got it for Christmas and had to take a bath right away. My two 12 year olds and 14 year old decided they had to help her with her bath. Needless to say, the older girls had so much fun creating music and played several of the songs together. They even had to put on a show.It is very educational to teach music and sounds. Now the older girls fight over who gets to take a bath with the 3 year old and play with her in the tub.The reason to plug your ears? My 3 year old is constantly playing the flutes, in and out of the tub. Even though she doesn't have water in them when they are out of the tub, that doesn't stop her from walking around the house tooting her horns. The good... so many different notes that can be created by adding and removing the water. Very easy for small children to use. Comes with coated music cards that will stick to the tub when wet. Great learning tool. All my girls age 3-14 love it and have fun.The bad... make sure you teach your child to keep the flute tipped down. If they tip it up, they get flooded from the water flowing out. The foam stand is cheap and doesn't work the greatest. Parts of the stickers for the letters were peeled when I took it out of the box. I had to hot glue some of the corners and sides down.Overall, my daughter is happy, so I am happy. Just have to get some ear plugs! :)My son loves playing these in the tub! He sticks the song sheet on the side of the bath with water, fills each flute to the line depending which song he’s chosen, and then tries to play the notes. He also enjoys dunking it and randomly filling the flutes and blowing into them to see what sounds he can make! Highly recommend these for a fun tub time activity. I can imagine we might take these outside for water play during the summer.I thought these would attach to the wall & make sound as you pour water in but they actually play certain notes depending on how much water u fill them with.I like how the part you unscrew doesnt fully detach so it cant get lost.It comes with music sheets so u can play songs after filling each to play a different note.Pretty cool concept but my son's only 2 1/2 so he's too young to use them properly - he had trouble blowing into them but he enjoyed trying but only tried the first time he had them...hasnt touched them since but im hoping he'll enjoy them once hes old enough bc despite the disappointment of them not being what i was expecting, still a pretty cool & original concept for a bath toy so my rating is based on its potential & originality vs my sons experience/response to them.My son (5 yo) loves playing with these in the shower, and it's hard to find toys that he can have fun with in the shower. It is hard for him to put all 5 in the holder and play it like that - he mostly just use 1 or 2 at a time. If I help with with putting all 5 into the holder then he can attempt to play the songs that comes with the cards. It's a great idea for a toy.I do try to empty them every time he finishes, so that they don't get moldy or slimy. However, since there's no way to clean the inside of the flutes, I think it's just a matter of time until they will have to be tossed due to mold or slime. My toddler likes whistles and these were no exception. He really likes to fill them and blow while in the bath. He is only 2 and 1/2 so he hasn't been able to figure out the circle and square fill lines in order to play actual songs, but that doesn't matter...he enjoys using these.I gave it a 4 start rating because the drain system is a bit tricky...the bottom of each flute can be turned and it will separate (but remains attached) to the flute so the water can drain out fully. It is tricky because to get the bottom off I have to usually use a washcloth since the knob is fairly small and it is tough to get a grip on it.These have been a lot of fun for our house.1. There are five of them. One of my biggest complaints - a lot of pieces to keep up with, but doable. The blue piece (at least with ours) is woefully neglectful at actually holding the flutes. I'm considering buying a bath shelf to hold these because they are so wanted during bath time.2. You fill them with water to obtain different notes. I fill them with tap water -- not the bathwater. Ugh.3. They are not that bad in terms of noise -- the harmonica a certain family member bought for the kiddo is MUCH worse (but I digress). And when used in conjunction with the provided music sheets...you actually get a song! Although, this usually is a combined effort between kiddo and the parent supervising the bath that night! All in all - A lot of fun! This has to be the best present I have ever bought for my nieces and nephews! Bathtime was amazing - with 4 of them in the bath at the same time, each had a flute to play with (and one spare) and they loved reading the notes on the waterproof music and trying to create tunes. Ranging in age from 2-8, they all loved this present and were producing some great sounds in no time! I wouldn't describe the initial sounds they produced as 'soothing' (as I read on one review prior to buying!) but they certainly are fun, hard-wearing and educational too.The flutes look good, and are fun for blowing different, random notes. But, the novelty has worn off with both my 4 year old and 1.5 year old and they hardly touch them. I thought that when they are older they could play around with water levels better and make tunes. But the other day when I was in the bath I had a play and discovered that one flute leaks so is unusable, and that the blue foam holder is not firm enough and so once one has finally filled the flutes to the required note (much more fiddly than I had hoped) they fall out and one has to start again. I finally managed to play Old MacDonald, but it took a lot of perseverance, from an adult! So, not an awful toy, but certainly very limited fun.Specifically ordered the branded Cuckoo Alex brand of water flutes as expected quality would be better and therefore happy to pay a bit more. The cheap generic version arrived of which I could have ordered from another seller for half the price. 2 of these had broken by January and unusable!Contacted seller to advise of my dissatisfaction and no acknowledgement!Don't use this seller poor service and cheap rip off products masked as branded!Bought these for my 2.5 yr old as bath time was becoming a daily war in our household and we were losing the will to live a bit! They were an instant hit (with me and my husband too!). Such good fun and such a great idea! My son loves them and can even make music notes with them (as well as drink from them..). They are great value and I would buy them for friends who have had babies.Well i got these for my little girl to play in the bath with she wont be able to play the tune cards till she is much older but gives her some enjoyment to just fill them up and make noise. a couple of the flutes have a problem with the bottom screw not fixing tight enough so the water can leak out so if you want to try follow the tune cards it may not be pitch perfect.
