First one came damaged so they send me a new one. It is just ok, a few errors like there is not ice in North Pole, but for playing for a toddler it is fineA sturdy, detailed, small wonder of a globe!Among its outstanding features--it revolves easily without wobbles on the stand--passed my performance test of being ready to "roll and hold" keeping steady on all of the many locations to which I turned it--larger than the diameter (5") might suggest. The circumference around the Equator (shown as a thin raised black line) measures 17" and the overall height is 8" including the stand--excellent colors, bright but not garish, and particularly effective in showing the blue oceans--as far as I could tell, politically up-to-date in showing the countries recognized by the United Nations--quite a few cities marked--all the U.S. States individually indicated--surface appears to be integral rather than paper which can risk peeling under useHowever, buyers should be aware that--a magnifiying glass may be needed to read some of the small-print countries--no globe or map is likely to satisfy every political perspective in what is recognized and what is not as a country--this is a Northern Hemisphere globe /North Pole on top so the Southern Hemisphere countries are less easy to see than where the South Pole is shown on top or where pages of an atlas can show larger scalesThis is not a scholar's globe but it could be an excellent first globe for a young person, introducing the concept of representing location, showing where friends & relations live, connecting to movies and news stories, and igniting imaginations. It is light enough to move easily, takes little storage space, comes in a useful box, and at the Amazon price, is a terrific---an amazing---value.This is perfect for what I needed, but don't expect the world...hahaha! I wanted a small globe for my daughter so I could explain where different countries are located. We don't have a ton of space--and she can't read anyway--so I didn't want to go too large. This is the perfect size and includes an amazing amount of detail considering how small (and inexpensive) it is. The quality is so/so -- there are some uneven areas around the equator, but I decided it wasn't worth the hassle of sending back over something so minor. Besides, it's good for me to try and let things go and ignore the imperfection. The globe spins nicely and has been a good reference for showing my daughter different countries and explaining how the earth spins. This globe is perfect for 5 to 6 year old kids. The size is small enough to not be intimidating and their little hands can handle it well. While small, it has all the continents and oceans as well as most of the world's well known countries and cities. The entire globe is plastic and does not smell, which is good for durability since kids tend to drop things on the floor. We have had this for a year now and so far has held up very well. Kids love to rotate the globe, too.For visual size comparison I included a photo next to a common personal sized bottle of water.Great quality and nice little globe, just a little smaller than I expected so the font of the country names is pretty small for some which made it a little harder for my Son to read. I think this would be better for adults or as a desk item. I will be getting one a little bit bigger to make it easier for my son to find and read the countries while he is learning.I bought this globe for my 5th grade classroom to have at a station in my Geography class. The kids love the globe and it is a great way to help kids understand map and and globe features.I like that even though it is small it still includes lines of longitude and latitude. I give my students a set of coordinates and thy locate them on the globe. When I had it at home it is also useful for testing your guests on their basic geography skills. It is small enough that you can leave it out without it becoming an eyesore. This could be a great educational tool, a fun learning toy, or a nice piece of decoration in your home.Globes are typically so expensive. I've always wanted one but haven't really had the extra money to purchase it. This was a great solution to that. While it's small, it still helps me gain an understanding of the planet and the position of certain areas in a way that a 1 dimensional map cannot. Yes, I wish it was bigger, but for the money its a great bargain. It's tiny and fits well on a desk or small bookshelf. I just wanted a basic globe to show my child the continents and countries. If you're expecting a sturdy item for this price you will be disappointed. It's as basic as you can get and the price is fair for what you get. After all, what's the sense in getting a $200 globe that a child could break? This works just fine for kids from 5 to 10.I returned this product to Amazon without an issue. I didn’t keep this globe because the quality didn’t meet my expectations for the price I paid. The globe looked used? I returned it and bought a cheaper one from ToysRUs (it was 1” bigger, better quality and only $15 (at ToysRUs)We really love this globe, but I have since seen what I think is the very same globe at Dollarama. I wish I had saved myself $12 as Dollarama's highest price is $3, I think?!? It is small: I can grasp the ball of the globe and encircle it entirely with my two medium sized "woman hands", but we can still easily read everything that needs reading. My daughter and son (ages 7 & 5) use it regularly and point things out to each other. It seems quite sturdy and has taken a tumble or two onto the floor with no ill effects. Some people complained about it not being current enough. Well, South Sudan *is* portrayed as a separate country (as it should be), and I don't know enough about recent political events to speak about anything else. I wanted a globe, but I didn't want to pay much, which is why I bought this small size compared to the regular size. It has served our family perfectly well. I just wish I'd gotten the cheaper version elsewhere. :)Although small this glove has most of the essential information and is a quick reference for visualizing distances and routes. My son recently flew from British Columbia to Nepal to take up a job flying helicopters in there. The globe helped me follow his route half way across the world. This is a great small globe. Colourful, easily readable place names. Doesn’t take up a huge amount of space. Ready quick access to look up where countries are in relation to others. Meets my needs perfectly.Exactly what I wanted. Small fits on my desk, makes a great reference, has the earths tilt, and good build quality for the price.Other reviewers have complained about the build quality and the size but I find the quality to be fine. It's light but its heavy enough and the base is wide enough for it to be plenty stable on a desk. And as far as size is concerned it clearly states that it's 5 inches in diameter... maybe whip out a ruler if your can't picture that?
