It's always an extra step to find a screwdriver to open the battery compartment for toys like this so I was very pleased when one was included. It's small enough that I can tape it to the bottom of the unit so I'll always have it on hand when I need to change the batteries.More importantly, the cats went right after the butterfly, batting and chasing it. I adopted 2 feline leukemia positive cats. They are older so getting them to play with something can be a challenge and I'm thrilled that this toy managed to get them engaged and playing! We bought one for our two cats to play with and a short time later we bought another because they both wanted to play with the toy at the same time. We bought replacement butterflies and it was a good thing because they do break apart from the cat's catching and pulling on them and heat glue only works so many times. The kitten and two "too old for toys" cats love this toy. We turned it on an everyone was instantly enraptured. I wish the butterflies were a bit more durable, though. They've been chewed down to the size of sad moths, unfortunately. My kitty loves it! He hasn’t ripped off the first butterfly yet (within the first 10 minutes) so I take that as a win haha. He’s incredibly playful and has high energy, and this is great for keeping him entertained. He likes to let it fly around and then pounce and attack it. Perfect cat toy!My cat is 6 months old. She loved this thing so much. The only problem is that she destroyed both of the butterflies within 2 hours. The base still works. I’d advise buying plenty of extra butterflies if you get this.To the manufacturer: this product is very well made/durable. I took it off the battery stand and she loves playing with just the attachment as I make her chase it. Please make a longer one with just the attachment longer wire, so she can play manually without the base. I would buy it!! Still like the base too tho. Very well pleased with how it holds up, she’s really rough with it! It has a nice spring to it I can’t believe she hasn’t torn it up!!Best cat toy I've ever bought. My cat loves it and plays with it for hours on end. Which in turn saves me from having a bored cat on my hands when I'm busy. It stays pretty stable but I weighed it down with a couple of dumbells so that if I'm gone for a bit or sleeping the toy will stay stable and with its continuous motion (as long as the batteries last) it keeps my cat occupied and happy for as long as she likes. Super stimulating and gives them plenty of exercise. For the price especially this is honestly the best toy you can buy. Highly recommended!!! Fantastic!!! Would definitely buy this as a gift as well. Buy it you won't be disappointed.I really like this toy with some exceptions. Cats like it too. Just the first day. They took to it immediately some more than others. Spins in only one direction. Wish it had varying speeds & angles. Butterfly really lives like many bugs. Would give more stars but it is not a toy in my opinion to used unsupervised. There is a metal spring that if a cat were to break the butterfly & chew it I would be concerned that it would hurt them. As a supervised & toy put away when not in use it’s a lot of fun to watch them play with it. Very satisfying. Best uses if they not bite down on butterfly. It is only paper & a cat that’s a chewer & unsupervised play I see could destroy it quickly.I have 2 "sets" of cats that are different genders/ages, and they really dont get along. I took out this toy and instantly, all 4cats were into it. I let it run for 20-30 minutes at a time, and it's lasted a decent amount battery-wise. I left it on all morning once too, and it didn't seem to drain it. Toy is solid- cats eventually figure out the movement comes from the center, but the action of putting a paw to block the rotation doesn't seem to affect/hurt/burn the motor, so it seems well-made. I have a de-clawed rescue cat, and this is one toy she can finally play with, and 'catch'. 10/10 would buy again
