It's nice material and very soft, but I don't feel like the craftsmanship is really there. It arrived with a small hole on the seam of the dorsal fin that looked more due to the way the fabric was cut than by any actual damage. I returned it for a full refund (no hassle at all, very quick and easy), and bought a replacement... which showed up with the exact same hole in the exact same place. I almost suspect they just threw the returned product in a plastic bag and sent it right back to me.Anyway, I didn't feel like returning it again so I just sewed it up and it's nice. Craftsmanship seems lacking, but then again... it's a stuffed whale, not a supercomputer, it doesn't really need to be perfect.This whale is so soft and huge! Looks just like a sperm whale! I bought this for my son for Christmas. He already has a giant squid and is looking forward to having the sperm whale and squid battle. I know he's going to love it! And it is going to bring hours of fun for him. I cannot comment on the durability of it yet, as I have not given it to him since it is for Christmas. My only critique of the toy would be I wish it had teeth, like sperm whales actually do. That would make it a little bit more realistic.The picture on Amazon really doesn't do this toy any justice. It's beautiful in person - the coloring, sheen and details. The head and tail in particular look very much like a sperm whale. The eye is not stitched on, but doll eye type material and is set into the head under an upper and lower lid, making it look that much more "life-like". It is also very soft. My husband got this for me as a gift after talking to other reviewers about how much their grandkids liked it :-).i bought it for its size, so I don't really care that its not sewn the best. It got a few rips in its seam after a month or so of throwing around and cuddling with - its nothing that anyone with a threat and needle can't fix though.My 6 year old grandson absolutely loves his whale! He knew exactly what kind it was (so it MUST be perfect according to all the books he has read) and uses it to talk all about that kind of whales. Was perfect for his birthday.Great stuffed animal. My 6yr old loves it. However, because he knows it's a Sperm whale, he has decided to name it, "Spermy". I'm having a difficult time explaining to him why he should pick another name.Niece is in love with Pinocchio, so when I found this on Amazon I gave it a try. So glad I did not pass up, it's huge and well made.My boy loves it and hugs it all the time.Beautiful and very very soft.
