Works on hard surfaces only. They do get bored of it after seeing it for a day, but then we hide it for a day or two and when we pull it back out the cats are into it again. It only moves when it gets bopped from above, and the activation isn't very sensitive. It shoots forward about seven feet, does a little 180° turn and squeaks, then stops until knocked again.I wish there were a setting that kept it moving for a few minutes, because the cats want to stalk it before pouncing, and sometimes lose interest because it stops so soon. It does go through the battery somewhat quickly, so plan to buy some extras if your cat likes it.Not very sophisticated, but it's a nice hands-off option to offer the cats when I'm too tired/busy to play with them with a wand toy.
