This is a really cute book. I have been reading a ton of romances that deal with heavy topics lately and I needed something to wind down with. This book worked! No-One Ever Has Sex on a Tuesday is a humorous chick lit novel (although I found the last 50% of the book to be much funnier than the first 50%). This is a novel about pregnancy, not taking life too seriously, and true love (even if it takes a few hiccups along the way to be perfected). It is the first book in the series and each book must be read in order as it follows the same couple through each book. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quick and fun read! I can't wait to read the next book to see what happens next (parenthood could be super funny for these two!).I don't have too much to say about this one as it truly is a quick read (the PB is 220 pages) but I will warn readers that there is a minor cheating incident that takes place. The heroine of the story actually doesn't know who the father of her baby is until she gives birth. However, it doesn't come off as very serious in the story. Sure, it is a major part of the plot, but it doesn't sit too heavy. I know many readers will stray from books with cheating in them, so I wanted to give fair warning beforehand. The book was good! I didn't actually have a laugh out loud moment until I was 80% through the book! I chuckled but the review I read said it was hilarious! Well all that didn't happen until the end if the book but I'll get the second book to see how Katy and Ben and ginger baby are doing! When I downloaded this book I didn’t know it was by a British author so I have to admit it took me a little bit to get used to some of the slang and the writing. Fortunate for me my fiancée likes to watch UK soccer so I was already familiar with some of the words. If you aren’t no worries it isn’t a big part of the book, like I said it just takes a little getting used to.I found that I was really able to relate to this book; being in my 30's and not wanting kids I can relate to the main character about not really knowing what to do all of the time. Not being ready and wanting to hold on to herself. Makes total sense to me. Of course this isn’t all the book is about- but it struck me. If you ask me the book is a romantic comedy of the best kind. It will make you laugh and cry and sometimes all at once. I devoured this book and am eagerly awaiting the next installment (should there be one). While not the best book I ever read, I did enjoy it. I usually read the bad reviews and skip the good ones, making my decision on what to read. I think that this book is set in England confuses some people because there are terms and words that we don't employ in the U.S. Since I worked with English fan clubs and corporations for years, I had a slightly better understanding than some, I think. Possible SPOILER... In addition, my husband is 15 years younger than I so I immediately got the concept of "this is an impossible relationship so I could not possibly fall in love and get hurt so this person is a safe date". Told myself all those things when we started dating and he was 19! Let my guard down and it sneaked up on me. Been married for 30 years now and still love each other. Nice to see a sort of lopsided relationship besides my own work out well.I really had high hopes for this book. I read some reviews and thought that it would be a good book. I don't recall reading anything that made me laugh. The whole time I kept thinking how dis functional Katy and Ben were. I mean they must have been for her to cheat? Oops sorry spoiler alert. She goes to her reunion and has sex with Matthew her former crush/boyfriend evidently unprotected sex at that! She gets preggers and Matthew selfishly tells Ben that he slept with Katy. That was not his call to make considering Matthew is married and expecting twins. Just because Matthew is unhappy he has to drag down Katy's relationship. Obviously Katy and Ben aren't the stablest relationship since she cheated and he never says he loves her cuz that is not his thing REALLY? I didn't find any romance in this book at all. I don't recommend the book unless it's free but then again never mind you can't get your time back, I will read a good book in three days if it's really good but it took me over a month to get thru this book. I bumped it to read 2 others before I committed to finishing this one. This was a funny story one night and now baby on the way I liked how the Arthur portrayed both men I loved Daniel had not a clue what to do but true friend he kept at it until everything was fixedI know romance novels are supposed to have a happy ending. But this one wraps up just a little too nicely. I could not identify with Matthew and Ben both excusing bad decisions to getting drunk. What is it with men in the UK? They seemed to drink to excess all the time in this book, and then make decisions that they later write off. The men got drunk and the women paid the price. Tell me again this is a light romance. Katy would do better on her own, but she has no confidence. She needs a man, even if he really does not add much, pretty soon she will be parenting two children, her child and her husband.I enjoyed reading this book. The twist and turns were great. I love the way the author makes you pull this way and turn you to pull the other way then back again until you just don't know what to expect.I don't like leaving negative reviews for a book I know someone has put effort into writing, but honestly this book was so inane and poorly written that I have to. The characters are all massive clichés with no real personality, the storyline is like a tedious soap opera and it's really not particularly funny. I also had to check to see when it was written, because the attitude towards gay people felt totally outdated for the 2010s. The book was recommended when I was looking for books similar to ones by authors like Marian Keyes, but this was a total disappointment.I purchased this book from Amazon and I have had it on my TBR list for quite a while. The third book in the series is out this week so I thought it was time I got myself all caught up.The first thing I have to say about Tracy’s writing is that it is so funny. I loved the Gloria scene. I won’t say anything else about it but it was very funny. Daniel was also very funny and one of my favourite characters in this book. This book follows Katy in the last month or so of her pregnancy. Around 8 months earlier Katy slept with her high school sweetheart, Matthew. She also slept with her sort of boyfriend, Ben. Katy has had trust issues ever since the circumstances of her and Matthew’s break up at about 18. Katy has kept men at arms length ever since.I have to say that I didn’t particularly like Matthew. In fact after reading all 3 books I still don’t like him. I think he is a bit selfish really. At first I also didn’t like his wife Alison but I warmed to her more in book two.I really liked Ben and I felt a bit sorry for him at times. He is clearly a really good guy, yes he is a bit younger than Katie, Matthew and Alison but what he lacked in maturity he made up for in loyalty.I thought this was a light-hearted read with some really funny parts. It was easy to relate to, you could easily imagine knowing someone in Katy’s situation. I really enjoyed reading this and read it very quickly too. As soon as I finished I started the next book in the series. So it's an odd story, I'm not sure really the point in it. I really didn't like Ben, or Matthew to be fair. And I didn't really like Katy, her character just didn't make sense. Daniel was almost good but a bit too cliche gay best friend. So I read it because I still wanted to find out what happened. It's not an awful book but it's not a great one. I'm assuming it's the author's first novel so maybe her other books will be better.Wow! What an unexpected gem! I downloaded this book after hearing some good things about it on twitter. I love the title, I think it's definitely something to get head turning in a bookshop or online, straight and to the point, so that, initially, was what attracted me to the book. But when I started reading I actually found it to be a real page turner! Right from the word go, we find out that our heroine Katy isn't exactly happy to be pregnant, and underneath it all, she isn't really looking forward to the prospect of motherhood, and the changes it will bring...But the book is about so much more than that. We get to travel back in time to when Katy met Ben, back to school where she met Matthew, and where Matthew met his wife Alison. What follows is a twisted romp of a novel involving all four of them in ways you would never expect! It's so well written because I really felt like I was there with the characters, in the antenatal classes, at disaster out weddings and even on the labour ward! I also like that fact that it was set mainly in Leeds, I like a northern novel-but them I'm entirely biased!Katy was a fabulous character. A really strong female. And yet, as I said, she seems almost in denial about the baby coming and her complicated situation entirely! She has bought some of the baby stuff but it still sits in bags in the bedroom. Despite being strong, she does succumb to the hormones of pregnancy in some parts, there are some very funny moments when this happens! Her boyfriend Ben, who is 8 years younger than her, also seems in denial about the baby, he goes through a lot over the course of the story and becomes a much stronger person because of it. I started out disliking him but by the end of the book I was rooting for him all the way!Initially I liked Matthew but the more I got to know him, find out about his relationship with Katy and his relationship with Allison, I really began to dislike him, he and Ben switched places by the end of the novel for me. I felt really sorry for Allison throughout the whole thing, and not just because she is expecting twins! I really hope that she has a happy ending. The fact that I felt worried for her by the end of the book shows how well written the whole thing was.I think that this book would be a fabulous addition to anyone's summer reading list, add it to your kindle now. It's fast-laced and fun, but at the same time, very real. I think there is something in here for everyone, and will be looking forward to hearing much more from this author in the future! This is another first for me and was also Tracy's debut novel. On Tracy's website she says the book will have you laughing and crying and I definitely agree with this statement. Just minutes before writing this someone on my twitter feed asked what the last book someone had cried at, this was mine. The story is about Katy as she has to face up to a one night stand resulting in a pregnancy, not only that but she is unsure who the father of the child is due to an old flame coming back into her life at the same time as she starts a relationship with another man, the man who happens to think he is the father of her baby. A chance meeting throws the lives of the two couples into disarray and the story follows how they cope with all of the upsets. This book is really easy to relate to as the subject is something that happens in ordinary life. The characters are relatable as well, to both women and men, as they are down to earth and normal as opposed to living the life of luxury. The prose is witty and will have you laughing at the situation that unfolds. It will have you crying too though, as Katy has to face the consequences of her actions. Katy is a great character and the story is told from her point of view only which is great because I felt like I read this really fast and only really had time to get to know one character properly and in depth.I'd definitely recommend this as a light, weekend read if you're looking for something to lift your spirits for a little while!
