This was a gift for my grandson. He’s obsessed with construction equipment of all types. When he got it in the mail for his birthday he said “Ohhh, this is is what I’ve wanted all my life!!!!” Never mind he’s got about 8 backhoes already. My favorite things about it is that it is big enough for him to handle without it being too big for him to carry.I bought this for my 2 year old grandson who is obsessed with construction vehicles mainly because he and I watch YouTube videos of these all the time. My rating on durability should be weighed against the fact he is only 2. After a few weeks a shovel piece broke off (he only plays with this inside) and recently the entire bucket broke off. He was heartbroken so I bought a second one. He woke up the next morning, ran right past my son into the room to get his backhoe and all he wanted to do all morning was play with it. I just wish it were a little more durable but for the price I will keep buying it if I need to just to see his happiness!Ordered for my 4-year old grandson's birthday. It is perfect size to match his dump truck. He has watched Blippy move dirt with his backhoe and asked me for one for his birthday. Since he has delayed speech problems, this was his first whole sentence to me, and the first time he has asked for anything other than a snack, so of course he got his backhoe/excavator. Perfect. We have four Bruder construction toys so this review is going to show up in all four places. These are all very well made, lots of details. They are made of plastic and of course could be broken but they were thoughtfully designed and are reasonably durable. The mirrors on the Mack dump truck are probably the weakest item, but if they were to break off the truck would be otherwise functional. Toys break. We took this as an opportunity to try to help our three year old grandson understand that a little care was required if he wanted these to last and he's responded well. So far, nothing's broken on any of them, despite hours of use. These all have so much intriguing detail that the kids are immediately drawn to them. We have about a hundred buckeye nuts for them to push around and load without making a difficult mess. They all have moving parts that allow them to perform their real world functions. There are detents built in to hold position, so for example with the bulldozer, backhoe and front loader, the blades can be fixed and held in several different positions. As far as toys go, these are a little pricey but even a three year old understands from the detail that these are different that the coarser, simpler $5 - $10 equivalents. These clearly look like the "real" things. We've all had a lot of fun with these. This was the first of the four Bruder construction toys we bought and likes so much that we added to the set. It's also probably the most easily broken, especially the detailed parts on the backhoe, but so far, despite some aggressive assaults, everything's held up and continues to delight the kids.Cool truck! Appears sturdy and durable. Has held up nicely being constantly played with by a 3 year old. Had moveable parts for driving and digging. Wish it had been a little less expensive though. These Bruders are tough. Good quality toy.I purchased this as a gift for my son's 4th birthday. He is obsessed with all construction type machines, so I wanted to get him a vehicle with working parts and as much detail as possible to resemble the real thing. The levers and handles are easy for him to use and there are no batteries to replace and no screws to worry about losing or coming loose. Details you may not be able to see from the photos: dashboard impressions of gauges/buttons, steering wheel turns (but not connected to drive it), rubber tires (not stiff plastic) with Bruder and tire size shown on the outside, two pull down stablizers in the back and even the underside shows where the axels are with a clean thoughout look (no exposed metal rods/parts). The back hoe arm is removable, if you want to purchase additional accessories to go with it. The whole toy is made of a strong, quality plastic which will hold up to heavy use over the next few years. The prices are steep for Bruder toys, but the quality and details all line up with their price point.Bought this for my 2yo son on his 2nd birthday, as he is crazy about tractors. This has been his absolute favorite toy and he plays with it just about daily in the dirt and gravel. Although it does seem to be closer to a "model" than a toy for children with all of the accurate details and articulating backhoe, it has somehow survived this whole time. Only one break in one spot on the backhoe from a less careful and aggressively enthusiastic cousin, but I was able to repair it, fortunately. He was devastated... Bought him a Bruder bulldozer for his birthday this weekend and I'll be looking for other Bruder tractors in the future. Really amazed it's held up as well as it has. Absolutely worth the seemingly exorbitant price if your kid really likes tractor toys, and a cool collectible for an adult into them as well.Bought this for my three year old grandson and it was immediately a bit hit. He and his 6 year old sister nearly came to blows over it- I may have to buy another one! They both love the firm articulation of the back and front moving parts. It’s big enough to be fun and take their little people as drivers without taking up too much room. It’s plastic, not metal (I was remembering the old Tonka toy adverts) but seems strong enough- don’t stand on it though! Very popular. Wish all the similar toys weren’t labelled ‘boy toy’.I noticed that my nephew has recently taken an interest in tractors and diggers (the real ones) and usually ends up in my garden putting stones into a cup and emptying it somewhere different. After browsing the shops in town, all I found were the cheap plastic diggers.Thankfully I found this Bruder Loader. It is a lot bigger than I first thought, also it very well made. I can't see my nephew destroying this and he was obsessed with it all afternoon. Perfect Christmas present for my nephew and will be ordering more from this brand in the new future.Without a doubt my 3yr old son's (who is a digger fanatic!) favourite toy. It is large, sturdy, yet not too heavy. The problem is that it does 'stuff', which means it has moving parts. These are sadly not as robust as the main part of the digger. I have sent one back already (very quickly replaced by amazon, who were amazing at customer service as always), but the second one is not fairing too well either. If it is going to be used for whizzing around the house it should be fine. If u want to use it for actually playing in soil/sand/mud, then buy a big metal Tonka...Very well made and my 3 year old son absolutely loves it. We have had it for about 4 months and it has been dropped about a million times and only a few small bits of plastic have broken off. Most toys my son has I expect to last maybe two days before he breaks them but this is very well made for the price. This is a brilliant digger! My 2.5year/33 month old son loves digging at our allotment but none of his previous diggers could last the intensity of digging activity. This digger is much more sturdy than one first thinks. It has lots of interesting features that entertain and challenge my son such as a working lever for raising/lowering the front loader/scoop and for emptying its contents. The back digging bucket can be moved across the back of the digger body and can also be manipulated to move in most directions. The only negative that I found was that the Bruder workman is very difficult to fit into the cab (hence 4 rather than 5 stars). A cab door or hinged cab roof that opened would have easily solved this problem.Decided to edit my review above and to rate the product with only three rather than the previous four stars because after nearly two months both the rods that move the buckets and the rod supports have broken, so it's not actually as sturdy as I first believed. That said, this product is still good value, and if there is a way to repair the supports then it will continue to be the envy of every little boy in the local park.
