This product consists of three squares of wood with shaped indentations and various painted shapes to put inside them as three puzzles -- one has letters, one has numbers (with a plus sign, a minus sign, etc.), and one has various geometric shapes. The shapes are in various solid colors, i.e., enough color to make each shape distinctive and interesting, but without any cutesy distracting decorations. I ordered this set for my 3.5-year-old granddaughter to play with when she visits. She is advanced for her age, but even so I was not sure that she would be able to put the shapes in their proper places yet. Well, not only could she do it, she really enjoyed it, naming the letters, numbers, and shapes that she knew as she placed them. I would recommend this as a toy to anyone with a toddler. The one caution I would offer is that each wooden square and its pieces should be put into a large Baggie for storage so that the pieces stay together; after each play session, the child should slide the worked puzzle with all pieces in place into a Baggie.
