This product was so much fun for my little nieces to do. They were so excited about it and had such a fabulous time playing with it. I would recommend it to anyoneThis kit is nice but needs quite a few extra ingredients from around the house, which I don’t have and will have to purchase. Other than that, the concept is pretty cool and would make a great gift. The tools in this kit are extremely well made and durable, (the molds are flimsy but I think they need to be so you can get the mold out easily). That's all that this is.. a kit of tools and a book of experiments, using things out of your pantry. Some people may complain that this is an inconvenience but it's actually CHEAPER to buy your own cornstarch, oil, baking soda YADDA YADDA YADDA. That means your kids will NEVER run out of the stuff they need to make these experiments.. We have had (great) sets where they had a hidden name for the real name of the powder we would use.. not knowing what it was it was iffy to duplicate the experiments once our little baggies of contents ran out.. this set you can do them til you are blue in the face. ALL the items needed are easily found at any grocery store and are affordable. In fact they are so common that we almost had everything in our pantry. I also thought the experiments lived up to the name of Gross Science Lab. Is it immature.. yes.. but that's the whole reason for this set.. GROSS and FUN. My 4 (almost 5) year old little boy loves it! I even enjoy it!Here is a list of items you will need if you want to be prepared when you get your set:Please Note that not all these ingredients are needed for every single experiment.. It's just what you need for the entire book.Baking SodaFood ColoringWhite VinegarDry YeastSugarUnflavored GelatinLight Corn SyrupBorax (found in the laundry detergent section)White Glue (elmers etc)Garlic CloveLiquid Dish Soap (don't use anti-bacterial soap)Rubbing AlcoholBalloonsCorn StarchChocolate SyrupIvory Brand Bar Soap (no other brands will work)Cooking SprayApple SauceOatmeal or Raisin BranInstant Coffee or Unsweetened Cocoa PowderMulticolored Breakfast Cereal (like Fruity Pebbles)MarshmallowsButter or MargarineJuice (not pineapple juice)Orange or Yellow colored flavored JelloNONFAT Evaporated MilkMilkHoneyVegetable OilDisposable DiaperPurple or Red CabbageLemon JuiceCarbonated Water or Clear Soda like SpriteNavy Beans (the white ones)EggThis was a Christmas gift for my 6 year old son and he was excited to try it out. I was thinking it was like those gross lab kits from the 90s... I made the mistake of thinking it was a “kit” there are cool molded plastic pieces and an instruction booklet but you need a to have a bunch of ingredients for each experiment. Most of which I didn’t have on hand. Just be aware of that before you buy!My nephew loved it! Perfect Christmas gift.Gave this to a 7 year old boy for a bday gift, came in a box and slipped it as is into a gift bag. Very hands on fun and gross way to involve younger kids in simple scientific experiments. 7 year old boy loved the spinning toilet feature. Lots of fun learning. Instructions were easy to read all the ingredients needed but not supplied we found in our kitchen. You must go shopping to do most of the experiments in the book...or maybe it was just my household I didn’t have some of the items and could only do 2 experiments with my son until I visited the store. My children and I enjoyed the fun experiments you can make from ingredients found in your pantry. It was well worth the wait and both kids, ages 6 (F) and 8 (M) enjoyed this. The toilet bowl was probably their favorite part of the entire kit as it made things a lot more... interesting. We will be looking into more products from this company in the very near future.Should be put on box that no experiments can be done till ingredients are boughtHuge fun, arrived quickly & excellent packaging. This item is rubbish all you get is some beakers & a stand & a spoon shaped like a worm everything else you have to supply was not happy at all I had to give it 1 star but I would like to give it -5looking forward to my grandchildren getting these for xmas, they look like so much funInterest has waned, because my household was missing items needed for almost every experiment. While I've now added them so that my grandson might try the science experiments, it's now hard to find the time to try them. We'll have to wait for more holidays.
